When the restaurant first opened in Belgrade, in Ušće Shopping Mall, not many people were aware of the Vapiano brand. All we knew at that point was that it is a pizza and pasta place and it seemed fancy from the outside.
First time Piggy and Cat were at Vapiano, in late 2012, we were surprised with chip cards. What is that all about? Each person who enters Vapiano has to take a chip card. Here's the explanation: you can stroll through the place, change seats, order anything you like, anytime you like it. The main feature of the chip card is that it gives you freedom of choice.
Vapiano pastas are homemade and each portion is carefully packed in cute carton bags. All the ingredients are used right in front of you based on which pasta, pizza or insalata you choose. You get to see what you eat — how about that?
This year, Vapiano opened at one more location in Belgrade, in Knez Mihajlova street. Piggy and Cat were there on the last Friday in November. We ate: Tomato soup with fresh basil and parmesan (small portion), Gorgonzola e noci pasta with walnuts and Pollo di crema pasta with chicken, red paprika and onions. Tomato soup tasted heavenly, and pastas were delicious! Portions are quite big, so you might be able to try some of Vapiano’s deserts — we recommend cheese cake made of real mascarpone, which is not so easy to find in Belgrade.
