Kafanica, a local bistro in Kosutnjak, is a lovely and cosy place to spend evenings with your family and friends. Kafanica’s interior holds authentic pieces of utensils and home supplies originating from traditional Serbian homes. And it has chickens on the loose :)
Piggy and Cat had a joyful evening with two ex-colleagues, gossiping over tasty Serbian specialties. The evening started with rakia, Serbian schnapps, beer and delicious Shepherd’s appetizer: prosciutto, bacon, beef sausage called “sudžuk”, cream and cheese.
Next, we tried out sarma (cabbage meat rolls), veal "butkica" with sour cabbage, roasted meat with “kajmak” (a special kind of cream) and venison goulash. These main dishes were accompanied with grilled peppers and gipsy salad (seasonal veggies with dressing).
Impressions? Tasty, not so authentic, quite salty and really not expensive. One of our guests wasn’t quite satisfied with veal “butkica”, he explained that he didn’t like the taste meat had. Others were pleased with the feast.
Lastly, we would like to thank Marko and Pavle for being a part of Piggy and Cat’s team. We had a great time!
